Where each walk sits in the schedule
- Concrete rough-in inspection checklistrough-in
- The morning of placement, after the rebar and embed installers have signed off and before the first truck is released to pour. Run by: The concrete superintendent walking the deck with the placing crew foreman before the pump truck arrives.
- Concrete pre-pour inspection checklistpre-pour
- After reinforcement, embeds and forms are complete on a pour area, before the concrete trucks are released to site. Run by: The GC's superintendent with the concrete foreman, releasing each pour area, joined by the engineer of record or special inspector where the contract requires them.
- Concrete final inspection checklistfinal
- After forms are stripped and curing has started, before joints are cut and the slab is turned over to the next trade. Run by: The concrete superintendent or QC lead, typically the GC's superintendent for the acceptance walk.
What most often sends concrete work back
- Chairs and bolsters crushed flat under foot traffic, dropping the top mat before the pour starts.
- Sleeves and blockouts shown in a wide shot with no tape measure proving location or size.
- Formwork bracing loosened by other trades staging material against it overnight.
- Reinforcement walked in from the edge of the slab and assumed continuous through the middle.
- Embed locations scaled off a print in the field instead of laid out from control lines.
- Vapor barrier punctured by the rebar and chair work and never re-inspected.
- Honeycombing patched and painted over before it is photographed or measured.
- Curing method started late or abandoned once the crew moves to the next pour.
