Flooring final inspection is where the punch list is either short or expensive. This checklist walks the finished work the way an owner or AHJ will see it: devices on, systems running, everything labeled. Each item gets the photo that closes it instead of reopening it. Work is commonly verified against manufacturer's published instructions. Confirm the edition your authority having jurisdiction has adopted.

Surface quality

Tile bond sounded across the field
Random tap or chain-drag check across each area, hollow units marked and replaced, not just noted.
Lippage within tolerance at joints
Feel and straightedge check at a sample of joints per room, including at doorways and transitions.
Seams, welds and pattern alignment consistent
Heat welds smooth and fully bonded, seams tight, pattern lines straight through openings.
Finished surface free of telegraphing, ridges and hollows
Floor viewed in low raking light for substrate joints, trowel ridges or patch edges showing through, and walked for soft spots.
Color, pattern and sheen match the approved sample
Installed floor photographed beside the approved sample or mockup, with no visible shade shift between cartons or rooms.
Finish face clean of adhesive, seam sealer and layout marks
No adhesive squeeze-out at seams, edges and transitions, no seam-sealer smear on sheet goods, no chalk or marker left on the finish.

Edges and transitions

Transitions and reducers secure and flush
Every threshold and reducer strip fastened, flush, and matched to the floor heights on both sides.
Perimeter gaps and base condition correct for the system
Expansion gap consistent at walls and columns where the system requires it, base or shoe ready to cover it.
Cuts at door frames and floor penetrations tight and clean
Flooring slid under undercut jambs or scribed tight to frames, pipes and floor boxes, with no chipped edges or open gaps left for caulk to hide.
Doors swing clear of the new floor and transitions
Each door in the area opened through its full swing with no drag on the finish, threshold or reducer.

Protection

Finished floor protected before other trades return
Protection coverage photographed edge to edge, seams taped, with the area logged as protected.
Foot and rolling-load restrictions set until setting materials cure
Cure times for adhesive, mortar or grout from the manufacturer's instructions passed to the super, with no carts, lifts or furniture moved on early.

Attic stock delivered to the owner's storage and logged
Where the specification calls for extra material, quantity counted against the requirement, cartons labeled by product and lot, owner's receipt recorded.
