Set and perimeter seal

Screen intact and fastened on the correct face, mesh matched to intake or exhaust, blank-off panel installed and sealed behind any area not connected to duct.
Duct connection

Duct connection sealed and airflow confirmed
Louver collar sealed to the duct with no gaps around the transition, damper if present operates, airflow at the louver confirmed in the intended direction.
What usually sends this back
The failures are almost always the evidence, not the work
- Perimeter sealant run over the drainage path at the sill, so the flashing that was meant to weep is sealed shut and trapped water backs up behind the frame.
- Bird or insect screen omitted, torn or fitted to the wrong side of the blades, so the opening passes visually but lets pests and debris into the duct.
- Blank-off panel left out or unsealed behind a partial louver, so conditioned air bleeds around the duct collar and the intake pulls unfiltered attic or wall-cavity air.
