Framing pre-cover inspection checklist
A framing pre-cover inspection is the hold point before concealed work disappears behind the next layer. This checklist is built for that walk: verify, photograph, then release the cover — not the other way around. Work is commonly verified against the applicable building code, engineered drawings — confirm the edition your authority having jurisdiction has adopted.

Blocking and bracing

Fire blocking and draft stopping installed at required locations
Blocking continuous at floor lines, soffits and concealed spaces per the code requirement for that assembly.

Sheathing, let-in bracing or strapping installed and confirmed before any temporary brace is pulled.
MEP coordination conflicts

No structural members over-cut or notched by other trades
Holes and notches in studs and joists within the allowable size and location, no cuts through a hold-down post.

Backing added for fixtures does not conflict with structural connectors
Blocking for grab bars, cabinets or equipment does not interfere with a hold-down, strap or hanger.
Final release before cover

Hold-downs, straps and hangers still accessible and untouched
Hardware re-checked immediately before cover to confirm nothing shifted or loosened since the erection walk.

Every wall and floor area walked and released individually
One photo per room or bay showing the full framed condition, tagged to that area's release.
