Water treatment chemical feed system annual maintenance checklist

The annual chemical feed system service is the deep pass: the measurements, cleanings and tests a quarterly round doesn't reach. This checklist keeps the full service on record with the photos that make it defensible later. Work is commonly verified against manufacturer's published instructions. Confirm the edition your authority having jurisdiction has adopted.

Who runs it

The water treatment service contractor on the annual service, when the loop can be sampled and the controller taken through its ranges.

When in the schedule

Once a year, timed with the closed-loop and condenser-water annual so probe drift and pump output get corrected against a real sample.

The checklist

Every item, and the photo that proves it

The photo count on each row is what RTI would require before the item can be submitted. Copy the list as is, or load it into RTI and let the gate enforce it.

01

Pump calibration

  • Metering pump output verified by draw-down

Pump timed against a calibration column or measured draw-down, actual output compared to the setting and corrected, not read off the dial.

    2 photos
  • Diaphragm and valves inspected

Pump head opened where due, diaphragm and suction/discharge valves inspected for swelling or crystallization, seals replaced per the service kit.

02

Controller and probes

  • Probe cleaned and checked against reference

Conductivity or ORP probe pulled, cleaned of scale and film, then checked against a known reference solution and calibrated to it.

    2 photos
  • Setpoints and alarms exercised

Controller taken through its dosing and bleed setpoints, low-level and no-flow alarms confirmed to interrupt feed as intended.

03

Injection and delivery

  • Injection quill pulled and cleared

Quill removed from the line, scale and crystallization cleared, check valve reseating cleanly, quill reinstalled to the correct depth in the flow.

    2 photos
  • Tubing runs replaced where degraded

Suction and discharge tubing checked end to end for hardening and cracking, sections replaced where degraded, containment cleaned out.

What usually sends this back

The failures are almost always the evidence, not the work

  • Metering pump output taken from the dial setting and never checked against a draw-down, so the loop is over- or under-dosed all year.
  • Conductivity probe cleaned but never checked against a reference solution, so the controller doses to a drifted number.
  • Injection quill left in place until it snaps off in the flow because scale was never cleared from it on a service.

Run it with the Photo Gate

A checklist nobody can submit half-finished

Load this list into RTI, stick a QR tag on the area it covers, and the submit button stays locked until every mandatory item is answered and the 9 required photos exist. Approved walks roll into a branded turnover package with a tamper-evident record behind every line.

Common questions

What does this water treatment chemical feed system annual checklist cover?
6 items across 3 sections, covering pump calibration, controller and probes, injection and delivery. Each item spells out what the person walking the job is actually looking for, not just a box to tick.
Who should run this inspection?
The water treatment service contractor on the annual service, when the loop can be sampled and the controller taken through its ranges.
When in the schedule should this walk happen?
Once a year, timed with the closed-loop and condenser-water annual so probe drift and pump output get corrected against a real sample.
Why does every item ask for a photo?
9 of the 6 items call for photo evidence. A checklist answer without the photo is a claim; the photo is what makes the record worth something in a dispute and lets a reviewer approve work without re-walking the job.
What most often fails a water treatment chemical feed system annual inspection?
Metering pump output taken from the dial setting and never checked against a draw-down, so the loop is over- or under-dosed all year. Conductivity probe cleaned but never checked against a reference solution, so the controller doses to a drifted number. Injection quill left in place until it snaps off in the flow because scale was never cleared from it on a service.
Can I use this checklist in RTI?
Yes. Start a free RTI workspace, build this list as a checklist, and the Photo Gate holds the submit button until every mandatory item is answered and its photos are attached. Approved inspections roll into a branded turnover package with a tamper-evident audit trail.
