Substrate flat and sound

Wall flat, dry and free of ridges or hollows
Substrate flat within tolerance, joints not proud, surface dry and clean so the adhesive bonds full without voids behind the panel.
Moisture-appropriate substrate

Correct backer used for the wet-area location
Moisture-resistant board or the substrate specified for the location behind the panels, not standard board that fails when moisture reaches it.
Penetrations located
- 1 photo
Outlets and penetrations marked before panels go up
Outlet, switch and plumbing locations marked so cutouts are clean and centered, edges that trim and sealant can close later.

- Panels bonded to a wall that was not flat, so the finished FRP telegraphs every ridge and hollow and traps voids behind the sheet.
- The wrong wall board used behind the panels in a wet area, so the substrate degrades where moisture gets past a joint.
- Outlet and plumbing penetrations not located before install, so cutouts get hacked in freehand and leave gaps the sealant can not close.
